The search for a new umbrella

kate-spade-umbrella-lgI feel like this is a topic that comes up a lot…

(At least in my sordid world.)

It’s been snowing pretty much nonstop in these parts for weeks. Early on, snow storms gave me an excuse to embrace my introvert (nothing says glad to work from home like slipping on your arse every time you attempt to commute), but as time and snow storms go on, you can no longer cancel plans for several days just because of the weather.

Life goes on.

And so, the other night, one of my dearest friends celebrated a pretty pivotal birthday, and I braved the trip even as an ice storm came down around me. I’m super glad I went — I had a great time! — but as I was trudging the long walk to the subway, my umbrella broke. And by the end of my journey to said birthday party, I had a blown blowout to go with my blown umbrella.

Good news is, I now have a completely valid excuse to be shopping for another! And I just came across one that I’m pretty sure is the winner.

As someone who very strongly believes in mind over matter, Kate Spade’s  Rose Travel Umbrella(Shopbop.com, $58) may just be exactly the salve for my senses. What says spring more than roses? Even the warm drizzles of spring (lets face it, not great for hair either) are a welcome thought after this incredibly dreary winter.

And walking through the streets under a bright floral canopy? No matter what the season, the sun will be shining anew. Right? It’s the perfect rationalization, right? Almost like therapy, I tell you.

What do you think?
