Fall Lust Object: BB Dakota Calhoun Plaid Hooded Poncho

I have a very bad habit — my mom blames it on my living in hippie-meets-hipster Park Slope – I often (very, very often) do not wear a bra.

Now, God gave me very little to deal with on top, so this is normally not a problem. However, a few days ago, I was having lunch with my dear friend Sarah when, we noticed, the skies opening.

We both had appointments to get to, and tried to beat the rain (her with appendicitis, me with slippery sandals, it was pretty hilarious). However, in the walk to the train, the buckets of rain became monsoon-like, and another negative arose – my lack of a bra. And my decision to wear a cream sundress. And the fact that the east village was getting an unplanned peep show.

For this reason, and many other reasons we’ll go into in other posts, I don’t think we’ll ever get tired of ponchos. Had I been wearing a poncho, I’d perhaps not be frightened, awaiting my late-night Cinemax debut. And, more importantly, my hair would still be cute.

Before you bring out the obvious truth – it’s August in New York City and it’s not exactly poncho weather quite yet, bear with me. I realize their functionality may be somewhat limited but you must realize they are completely awesome and – lets face it – with the apocalypse coming and global warming already here, who KNOWS what weather tomorrow will bring.

Personally, I’m attracted to the BB Dakota Calhoun Plaid Hooded Poncho ($130) — in fact, I’ll be in Chile next week, where it’s currently winter. Meaning, I don’t even NEED to rationalize – I can wear it and pack it right now!
