Steal the Look: Maggie Q at 2014 Met Gala

maggieqFor last night’s Met Gala, celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel  wanted to give Maggie Q a classic updo, but with a very modern twist.

“The Zac Posen dress that Maggie chose had such great volume and drama below the waist and a high, sleek neckline, that I immediately starting pulling from Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly!” says Abergel.

How to get the look:

“Maggie has great thick hair so I wanted to start by giving her a blowout as a base,” says Abergel, who sprayed Maggie’s hair hair at the roots with René Furterer VOLUMEA volumizing conditioning spray – no rinse and started the round brush blowdry using a boar bristle brush. The boar bristles give great shine and luster to the hair.

“Once Maggie’s blowout was finished, I made a clean center part. I used René Furterer VEGETAL SCULPTING GELto smooth and slick the hair into a low ponytail,” he says. “To clean up any extra flyaways, I rubbed a small amount of René Furterer STYLING WAX into my hands to heat it up and then ran my hands over the top and sides of the hair.”

“To begin the bun, first I teased the ponytail to make it big. I then smoothed the top section only, using a Mason Pearson brush. Next, I wrapped the ends of the hair under and created a bun in the shape of a half moon, using large bobby pins to secure it into place. I made sure to criss-cross the pins to allow for the most amount of hold.  Once the bun was secure, I sprayed it with René Furterer VEGETAL FINISHING SPRAY and shaped the bun into its final look!”

Love it! What were some of your favorite looks from last night’s Met Gala?
