Steal the Look: Cate Blanchett at Independent Spirit Awards

2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards - Red CarpetCelebrity hairstylist Robert Vetica  gave Cate Blanchett a relaxed look to reflect the chill vibe of the Independent Spirit Awards.

The decision to put her hair up was made based on the weather, Vetica says. We’ve so been there!  “It was also important to use the right products to help keep the moisture out on a day like today.”

As I’m a victim of constant days “like today” — his step by step breakdown is especially useful!

Vetica explains how to steal the look:

· Starting out with clean, wet hair, apply John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray all over with a focus on the roots for fullness and to ensure the style holds.
· Create a side part and blow the hair up and out using a boar bristle brush to help it dry quicker with extra shine.
· Next, spray in a little John Frieda Frizz Ease Go Curlier Heat Activated Spray before using a ¾ inch curling iron to create a full base curl set starting at the side part. According to Vetica, “the spray helped me set a better foundation for the look which is essential in rainy conditions.”
· When the curling process is complete, mist a little John Frieda Frizz Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray to keep the shape of the curls while still keeping a natural look, and then brush them out softly.
· Next gather all the hair together in the back and create a loose braid. Keep the braid close to the head but never too tight. Work in a small amount of John Frieda Frizz Ease Expert Finish Polishing Serum for a little extra shine and brilliance.
· Secure the braid with a clear elastic band and then pull certain sections of the braid and continue to mold it until it’s the perfect mixture of beauty without looking too forced. Seal the look with final mist of hairspray.

Cate looks great! What are some of your favorite looks to put a finish to frizz on rainy days?
