The Guide to Spa Vacationing In Los Cabos

oneandonlypamilaThere’s so much more to visiting Los Cabos than fish tacos and margaritas. It’s a Baja paradise, with an amazing climate, beautiful waters and lots of luxury.

Included in the luxury is some amazing spas, making it a potentially ideal spot if you are planning a spa-centric girlfriends getaway this summer. If you’ve decided spa-ing is in your cards, here’s a few can’t-miss spots to detox before you head back to the bar to retox!

Pueblo Bonito: While visiting this property, I tried the Temazcal ceremony for first time. As someone who avoids sweating at all costs, I didn’t expect to enjoy it – I was so wrong. It’s a traditional shaman-lead ceremony, and within the several hours you may spend there, you’ll emerge feeling a sense of spiritual, mental and emotional healing. It’s performed, as tradition dictates, in a small group within a stone hut, with the smells of basil, steam, and the shaman’s chant. Bonus? You sweat so much, you’ll look way thinner in those beach photos after!.

Spa at Las Ventanas al Paraiso :As lavish a property as you can find, the spa is simply sublime – set in garden-style suites, you begin with a ritualistic foot cleans¬ing before your treatment. Many of their spa treatments involve healing desert ingredients, bringing you back into the nature and history the setting demands. Try their Honey and Milk Bath, which includes a crystallized honey body scrub and ends with a luxurious milk and honey bath.

I can’t even talk about how beautiful One&Only Palmilla is – but I’ve traveled all over the world and there’s simply nothing I’ve encountered quite like it. They introduce new treatments seasonally, so each experience is unique. Try the amazing sun ritual – exfoliating sea salts combined with essential oils, it stimulates circulation (great for blood flow and detox pre retoxing!) and softens skin before a full body massage with aromatic oils.

Capella Pedregal’s Auriga Spa is another gorgeous stop, heavily influenced by nature and the planets. Their sea ritual body scrub involves a sea algae mud pack and a warm shell massage – absolute heaven for the senses.

With so many spas to choose from, it’s hard to know where to start — and super important to do your research. Best possible goal? Make relaxation your chief target, and everything else is just icing on the beachfront cake.

Remember, no two spas are the same. So, while your BFF may crave the luxe and opulent, you may crave a more casual experience. Try to find common ground that will make you be saying “ahhhh!” for weeks to come!
