Do I need a winter veil beanie?

Do I need a winter veil beanie?

I just came across this  BCBGMAXAZRIA Winter Veil Beanie ($68)…and I find myself oddly captivated. I’ve always had a thing for a bit of pompom…but in this crazy combo of knit hat and birdcage veil? I don’t know. It sort of feels virtually Victorian in its elegance, right? And if I’m going to risk hat hair, the hat should at least be cute…

Travel skin save: A USB Humidifier

Travel skin save: A USB Humidifier

So, you guys, my skin sort of hates me. It’s been pretty weird: It’s mid-November, I’ve only been to cold (or, lukewarm, at best) weather climates of late. And, right now, I have a peeling sunburn on my chest! So, maybe it’s not the skin that hates me, but the sun? That’s a reminder though we should be wearing SPF every day. Even, apparently, while Christmas shopping in late fall/early winter. As we get closer to winter, dry air appears to be EVERYWHERE. And even if you have a humidifier to help with your skin’s suffering at home, chances are you aren’t throwing it into your carryon when you travel. I just found this Satechi portable USB humidifer($30) and I’m rather intrigued by it. This you COULD fit in your bag...

Serious Pick-Me-Up: Saipua Winter Citrus Soap

Serious Pick-Me-Up: Saipua Winter Citrus Soap

Happy Holidays! Feeling a little bah-humbug this fine winter’s day? You are in good company — but if nature’s dealt you an uneven flow of coal in that stocking, a soul-cleansing shower with some of Saipua’s heavenly Winter Citrus Soap ($10) did the trick for me. It has scents like blood orange, lavender, and fir needles, making it seasonally apropos – but far more pleasurable than the real thing.

Must Have: Banana Republic Patricia Hat

Must Have: Banana Republic Patricia Hat

I dare someone to pretend this hat isn’t ridiculously pretty. The Banana Republic Patricia Hat ($50) demands a great black wool winter coat (which, yes, I’m still seeking). Obviously, it also demands fabulous winter activities to wear it to – also, still being sought. And, if I have a lot of fun on the agenda, then this hat will get plenty of wear – making it a sublime...

Winter Wonderland: Nanette Lepore Provocative Coat

Winter Wonderland: Nanette Lepore Provocative Coat

I apologize for the radio silence the last few days – I was fallen with the most evil of Fashion Week flu bugs…a flu bug that transcended into bronchitis, and a week later, is still not really gone. The silver lining of the whole story is that I’ve mysteriously lost just about ten pounds in a single week. I realize it’s a very Devil Wears Prada fantasy sort of loss, and I’ll probably gain it back as soon as I regain the ability to swallow a burger, but still, for now, my visions of sexy skinny jeans and sexier tall boots are feeling more a reality than ever. I’ve been coughing up a lung since last Tuesday, at the very least, the universe should reward me with a great ass for it. But the long-short-middle-road of the story is...

Unsure: SmartWool Galloon Tights

Unsure: SmartWool Galloon Tights

I tend to hoard tights, especially in the transitional season of fall. But I validate my obsession in the knowledge that – generally – I’m not spending a ton of money. But that brings me to SmartWool – I know they are cushy and warm and cozy and will make me happy –  but even with the adorable pattern, at $47 are the  Galloon Tights a little excessive for what they are? I mean, they are TIGHT for the money I’ve bought entire DRESSES. However, they look durable, so if they last throughout the winter, and keep me warm, and maybe even ward off the next plague, maybe they are worth it? Plus…I see some awesome other shades they come in...
