The search for a new umbrella

The search for a new umbrella

I feel like this is a topic that comes up a lot… (At least in my sordid world.) It’s been snowing pretty much nonstop in these parts for weeks. Early on, snow storms gave me an excuse to embrace my introvert (nothing says glad to work from home like slipping on your arse every time you attempt to commute), but as time and snow storms go on, you can no longer cancel plans for several days just because of the weather. Life goes on. And so, the other night, one of my dearest friends celebrated a pretty pivotal birthday, and I braved the trip even as an ice storm came down around me. I’m super glad I went — I had a great time! — but as I was trudging the long walk to the subway, my umbrella broke. And by the end of my journey to said...

Bargain alert: Kate Spade Skinny Mini Faux-Pearl Drop Earrings

As Halloween passes this week, the holiday season is officially upon us. What does this mean? A whole lot more cocktail parties, and even more reason to dress in our finest. If you are me, that means — also – an excuse to go shopping and if you can find accessories that can go the mile at minimal additional expense, even better. These Kate Spade earrings ($58) from Neiman Marcus are super cute and work with that eternally essential LBD, but also whatever you are wearing all weekend long. Everyone loves bows, and pearls, and gold, and sparkle, don’t they? Plus, they are under $60. It’s a hard press to get out of dinner that...

A million and one reasons I need the Kate Spade New York Franca Printed Plastic Cat’s-Eye sunglasses

A million and one reasons I need the Kate Spade New York Franca Printed Plastic Cat’s-Eye sunglasses

It’s late October, and no one is thinking of sunshine. In fact, everyone and their mother is stocking up with bottled water and carbs in preparation for this season’s disaster du jour – Sandy — otherwise known as “the perfect storm,” due to hit New York City and kill us all this Monday. OK, I jest – Sandy won’t kill us. We have a good month before the Mayan pre-destined death decree hits. But, it’s going to be nasty, and so the last thing on people’s minds is, well, the sun. Except mine — because my dear friend Amber and I just confirmed tickets today for Sao Paulo for January, and that’s all I personally care to think about right now. It’s been a dark year — sunshine is the light...

Awesome.com: Kate Spade Supercalifragilipstick!

A lovely friend sent me this beautiful Kate Spade Supercalifragilipstick! ($24) this past week, and I confess – I was in love before even opening the box. Seriously, I can’t even begin to get over the name. But I’m so glad I did open it, because I’m loving Adventurous Red – check out how hot that red is! (I’ll post a picture as soon as I’m having a decent hair day) – but I will say, it is a fabulous blue-based red that brightens up any palette. Even (and including)...

Adorable: Kate Spade Walker Park Wool Cloche

As I come upon the day of atonement, I have a great deal of reflection going on — currently on my mind is that I’ve (sadly) never owned a cloche. Cloches are pretty classic – if you watch the silent films of last century, you’ll see many of the most feminine and sophisticated starlets wearing them. What do they have that I don’t? A cloche, that’s right. Thanks for paying attention! The Kate Spade Walker Park Wool Cloche ($125) is classic cloche meets modern day tigress – and imagine how awesome it will look with a long wool coat and a pair of leather...

Adorable: Kate Spade No Sleep Till Brooklyn Bangle

I’ve always had affection for Kate Spade, but my love for her wasn’t coming from my dive-bar loving rock-music-following wild side. It was the princess in me that liked her – the girl who appreciated those things that are forever refined and classy. But why can’t my personalities be joined as one? It worked for Jessica on One Life to Live, no? To that end, the No Sleep Till Brooklyn Bangle ($88) is pretty fantastic. I say that in the sense that it is both pretty AND fantastic. In fact, I think I need to go ahead and order this right now....
