This morning, I wrote a rather dramatic post about trying to get back on the fitness “horse” — get ready for a whole bunch of horse analogies because I’m going to the Belmont Stakes this weekend! — and it is something I’m super serious about.  But said horses come in many stripes, and I keep on being reminded that my stripes are not gym colored. Don’t get me wrong, I love group fitness classes — Zumba, yoga, etc — drop-in classes or even package deals at your favorite spots or with your favorite instructors. But the gym? Well, sorta. Update on my healthy living journey: A month into cutting out refined sugars and working out 3-4 times a week, I’m down 12 pounds (about 1/3 of the way to my goal), and feeling better than I have in ages. It seemed appropriate to celebrate by going to (God, you guys won’t even believe this), a fitness festival in Atlantic City for the weekend. Headlined by Jillian Michaels, Sweat AC was a 3-day health and wellness event held this past weekend in Atlantic City, featuring workshops, lectures, an expo center, and a full roster of classes taught by some of the biggest celebrity fitness instructors in the country. The last month, as I’ve finally been back on my feet (so to speak), I’ve been working really hard at living a healthier life — emotionally, of course, but also what I eat, and how I take care of my body. I went from never exercising at all to going to 3-4 fitness-related classes a week — and some have been pretty hard core!
