Steal the Look: Selena Gomez at the VMAs

Steal the Look: Selena Gomez at the VMAs

There was a lot of drama at last night’s VMAs, but the best kind was Selena Gomez’s sultry eyes. COVERGIRL makeup artist Jake Bailey shared how he created her look:  “I kept Selena’s makeup simple and sophisticated to not compete with her elegant Calvin Klein gown,” says Bailey, who began by prepping her skin with Ren “Ever Calm” day cream and a few drops of Ren Instant Firming Beauty Shot Serum to create a smooth canvas. “While I let the product absorb I began working on the eyes, using COVERGIRL Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner in Black Onyx to define her upper lash line. I then used Nars Velvet Shadow Stick in Shimmering Peacock all over her lids and lower lash lines and also blended it out with a small soft shadow...

Steal the Look: Giada De Laurentiis at her Vegas restaurant opening!

Steal the Look: Giada De Laurentiis at her Vegas restaurant opening!

I’m headed to Vegas  a week from tomorrow — so obviously it’s very much on my mind! It’s on celebrity chef and Clairol Natural Instincts spokesperson Giada De Laurentiis’s mind as well, as she celebrated the opening of her first restaurant “Giada” in Las Vegas last night. For the big night, Giada’s look was inspired by the art and colors threaded throughout her restaurant, designed to feel like you’re dining in Giada’s home. Julie Morgan, celebrity makeup artist and longtime friend of Giada De Laurentiis, got her hair and makeup ready for the event. Here’s how: Giada’s hair was freshly colored with Clairol Natural Instincts Amber Shimmer (a shade change for Giada) which gave her hair a gorgeous light golden brown...

Steal the look: Sofia Vergara at the Tribeca Film Festival

Steal the look: Sofia Vergara at the Tribeca Film Festival

If there’s anyone I wish to steal the look of, it’s probably Sofia Vergara. Check out this gorgeous COVERGIRL lady, from last night’s premiere of Chef at the Tribeca Film Festival. Here’s a breakdown of her look, by makeup artist Kayleen McAdams. “For Sofia’s look last night I wanted to do an eye in a similar color palette to her COVERGIRL Bombshell ad – bronzy with a cat eye liner. Really sexy but with a softer pink lip so the focus would really be on her eyes,” McAdams says. “Before I created the dramatic eye look I wanted to give her skin a beautiful glow. I applied COVERGIRL truBELND Liquid Foundation in M6 all over her face and neck and applied truBLEND FixStick Concealer just where needed. I then used...

Steal the Look: Katy Perry in her new Dark Horse Video!

Steal the Look: Katy Perry in her new Dark Horse Video!

Various things I love a great deal include: Katy Perry and ancient queens. (It’s true.) Which is why I’m all about the new Katy Perry video premiering tomorrow. The video for Dark Horse (available tomorrow on KatyPerry.com) has a very Cleopatra feel, and I got all the details on how to steal the look via our beloved Cover Girl Katy Perry’s makeup artist, the fab Jake Bailey. “The central element to this look is definitely the intricate liner,” says Bailey. “This eye makeup is based on the Egyptian Eye, also known as the Eye of Horus,  which is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good health.  An appropriate look for Katy’s regal character in this video!” I’m so excited. To create this look...

Steal the look: Sofia Vergara at Golden Globes in COVERGIRL

Steal the look: Sofia Vergara at Golden Globes in COVERGIRL

COVERGIRL Sofia Vergara looked amazing at the Golden Globes tonight in voluminous black dress — she looked like a princess! —  and a serious statement necklace. For this year’s Golden Globes, Sofia Vergara says really wanted to do something different. “I wear makeup every day – I wouldn’t think about leaving the house without it! – but of course it’s such a big night, and everyone is taking pictures, so I have to look good. With my dress so elegant and my necklace so bold (and heavy!), I wanted to keep my hair and makeup simple and classic.” She looked beautiful, indeed — from that incredible hair and makeup to the dress and awesome necklace. (I want to steal it.) But if you want to steal the look, Sofia...

Get the look: Queen Latifah at the People’s Choice Awards

You know you are head first in awards season when you choose stalking beauty breakdowns over slot machines in Vegas. (It was a wise, wallet-affirming choice.) One glowing standout was Queen Latifah’s simple, striking look by  COVERGIRL Ambassador Sam Fine. “Most often the clothes dictate the look; however, once Tim Snell (Latifah’s longtime stylist) revealed his version of the LBD, Latifah immediately requested a simple eye, glowing skin, and a striking lip instead of our favorite smoky eye/pale lip combination. So, when the Queen makes a request… I aim to please!” Fine shared. Face: “Every look begins with great skin – beautiful coverage and a gorgeous glow! I always begin using truBLEND Fixstick concealer one shade lighter...

Get the look: Katy Perry at the AMAs

What’s not to love about Katy Perry? Both her looks last night were among the highlights of the evening for me. Her makeup was done by celebrity makeup artist  Jake Bailey, who says the moment he saw Katy’s beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown he knew last night was going to be a classic Katy look — red lip, black liner and lots of lashes. I’m all about that! Jake started with a sheer application of COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in Buff Beige #825. “This foundation is perfect for the red carpet because it provides full coverage but can be blended sheerly for light yet durable coverage. It lasts forever and the 20 SPF is great for a daytime red carpet event because they have to stand in the sun for so long!”...

Get the look: Katy Perry in new Unconditionally video!

One of my favorite people, celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey, did Katy Perry’s makeup for her latest video, Unconditionally, (it’s awesome, you  need to check it out) and she looked fantabulous. For this video, Katy and Jake wanted to create something romantic yet dramatic to reflect the style and lighting of the video. As Katy is the queen of romantically dramatic, I’m a huge fan.  “For this set up I chose to go with alabaster skin, ethereal pink cheeks and a deep matte lip for dramatic impact. I kept the eyes simple with a coat of black mascara and a light dusting of warm taupe eyeshadow,” Bailey says. FACE “I first prepped her skin with Olay Fresh Effects “Long Live Moisture” Satin Finish Moisturizer. Since...
