Is ADDING Fat The Latest Plastic Surgery Trend?

Is ADDING Fat The Latest Plastic Surgery Trend?

We all fantasize about sucking all the fat out of our body — personally, I want lipo more than I want to win the lottery or have perfect hair forever — but there’s a Brave New World out there, my friends. The ability now exists to take fat from one area and put it somewhere else. Consider it the beauty equivalent of trickle down economics, and it is GENIUS. Imagine if you could take the fat from those thighs and have better boobs? Or augment your butt with that stubborn belly fat? or maybe graft some fat to your cheeks to make your face look younger and more vibrant? It sounds like the future. But the future, it seems, is now. There is no question that structural fat grafting, and addition of the stem cells that live within fat, is growing in...

Steal the Look: Selena Gomez at the VMAs

Steal the Look: Selena Gomez at the VMAs

There was a lot of drama at last night’s VMAs, but the best kind was Selena Gomez’s sultry eyes. COVERGIRL makeup artist Jake Bailey shared how he created her look:  “I kept Selena’s makeup simple and sophisticated to not compete with her elegant Calvin Klein gown,” says Bailey, who began by prepping her skin with Ren “Ever Calm” day cream and a few drops of Ren Instant Firming Beauty Shot Serum to create a smooth canvas. “While I let the product absorb I began working on the eyes, using COVERGIRL Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner in Black Onyx to define her upper lash line. I then used Nars Velvet Shadow Stick in Shimmering Peacock all over her lids and lower lash lines and also blended it out with a small soft shadow...

Buyer Beware: Think Twice Before That Botox Flash Sale

Buyer Beware: Think Twice Before That Botox Flash Sale

Flash sale sites like Groupon are great for things like massages, especially if you are already familiar with the person offering the service, but for cosmetic procedures? “Very risky behavior!” says plastic surgeon Michael Olding MD. First one has to ask the question: Why would someone be offering a procedure at a deep discount?, says Olding. “In business terms, that service is referred to as a “loss leader”(i.e. a product is sold cheap or at a “loss”, to “lead” you to the business where you are likely to purchase other items selling at regular prices,” says Olding. You see it all the time at grocery stores who advertise that a particular product is offered below its traditional value. How can they afford to do that? Well, says...

Beauty secrets flight attendants swear by

Beauty secrets flight attendants swear by

As a frequent traveler, I’m always finding ways to make travel as seamless as possible. This often involves packing smartly and eating right — both that I continue to struggle with — but it’s also in great part about protecting my skin from disastrous elements of flying as well as changes in climates. Recently, I came across an article on Yahoo about the  #1 Beauty Secret Weapon Flight Attendants Swear By for Perfect Skin (Spoiler alert: it’s skincare items that contain hyaluronic acid), and I realized there’s a lot we can learn from flight attendants when it comes to looking and feeling better as we travel. They are always in transit, and many look incredible while they are at it. So, I consulted a plastic surgeon and asked...

Steal the Look: Kristin Chenoweth at the TONY Awards

Steal the Look: Kristin Chenoweth at the TONY Awards

For this past weekend’s Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall, Deborah Watson styled the always gorgeous Kristin Chenoweth in a Zac Posen gown that flowed like liquid silver. To complete her look for the red carpet, celebrity hairstylist Jonathan Hanousek created a flirty bob. Here’s how to steal the look: 1. Prep the hair with a few sprays of CHI Keratin Leave-in Conditioner. 2. Blow dry the hair using a medium round brush and the CHI Touch 2 Dryer on a low ionic setting to achieve maximum shine and volume 3. Using the CHI G2 Flat Iron, start at the nape and flat iron the hair flipping the ends just a bit. 4.  Mist the hair with Farouk Royal Treatment Rapid Shine Spray over the entire head and used a wide tooth comb to smooth and shape. 5. To finish,...

Steal the Look: Lily Aldridge at the Met Ball

The Met Ball is one of the biggest red carpets of the year, sure to see some of the most spectacular (good and bad) looks on the boldest of faces and bodies. Model Lily Aldridge had her hair styled this year by Bryce Scarlett for Herbal Essences, who was inspired by the “China: Through the Looking Glass” theme and wanted to create a sleek, ornate bun to complement her classic, feminine Carolina Herrera gown. Bryce gave us a breakdown of how to recreate Lily’s structured style at home: Start by misting Herbal Essences Wild Naturals Dry Oil Spray all over dry hair to give hair a major shine Create a deep side part Pull hair back into two tight ponytails, one on top of the other, and secure with clear elastics Spray Herbal Essences Set Me Up Max Hold Hairspray...

New articles this week

Hello, friends! Happy spring! It’s been a whirlwind (with its fair share of wind and snow!) winter, and as April flowers are finally here, I’m hoping for a way more beautiful and serene spring. This last month or so has been pretty amazing in some other ways — I got to spend St. Patrick’s Day in DUBLIN! In fact, check out the photo attached to this post. I was IN the parade this year. Once in a lifetime moment, for sure! The trip to Ireland was as a guest of Jameson Whiskey, and it was an amazing experience I’ll be sharing in further detail very soon. While my blog has been the forgotten stepchild for way too long, I’ve been doing a ton of writing in other areas. Here’s some stories that went live in the last week or so....
