I’m back (and new articles!)

Hi friends! I’ve been everywhere but here the last few weeks — Nashville with Lexus, The Bahamas for Miss Teen USA, and then Australia and New Zealand for one of the most whirlwind trips I’ve been on in years. In the coming days, I’ll share stories of my lady love Bryce and myself, frolicking in middle earth, touring wineries for breakfast and chasing kangaroos by afternoon — there’s much more to come on that! — but for now, I just wanted to share some of my new articles that went live during my travels. I didn’t disappear, really! True or false: This bike lock looks like handcuffs

True or false: This bike lock looks like handcuffs

Maybe I’m riddled with jet lag, but answer me this — does not this Master Lock Street Cuff Bike Lock I was just pitched look oddly like handcuffs?? Maybe it’s genius — someone is less likely to steal if they are reminded of the results of criminal behavior AS they are stealing. However, I have a naughty naughty mind…and right now I’m thinking of handcuffs in a whole other usage. I need a nap. And to read a lot less erotica.

Sponsored Post: Beano Dairy Defense Back on the Menu Challenge

A few weeks ago, I was challenged to take the Beano challenge — eat foods that are normally off limits to me, and see if the Beano Dairy Defense made  a difference. Prestige Brands, makers of Beano®, recently conducted a survey where they discovered the majority of women respondents (75 percent) said foods such as vegetables, beans, whole grains and dairy are an issue for them because they can cause digestive issues. Beano® + Dairy Defense™ gives you the freedom to eat the foods you want and those that are good for you, without worrying about the uncomfortable symptoms they can cause. I’m a unique case because I travel for work most of the time — I honestly don’t often have a lot of say in where I’ll end up eating, or what...

Sponsored Post: FiberChoice 30-Day Get Picky Challenge

Greetings from Down Under! I’ve been traveling for just about all of this month — and will be for much of the remainder, and sad to say, eating healthy not going very well. The thing about travel journalism is that we get to experience the best of the places we visit — and that includes the food. You can’t help but indulge, because you are somewhere for a few days, and may not be in that place again for a very long time. But if you are in that sort of situation in different regions back to back? It’s a war of wills, and even the best of intentions can go out the window. You may be eating delicious foods, but are you necessarily eating the right foods for your diet and weight management needs? Probably not. That’s why I was so...

Steal the Look: Chloe Grace Moretz at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards

Steal the Look: Chloe Grace Moretz at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards

At last night’s Teen Choice Awards, Chloe Grace Moretz was wearing Valentino, and it was a pretty daring, baroque-inspired choice. “Her hair is down and natural so we went with a semi-smokey eye and light lips to play off of the dark colors that she’s wearing,” said celebrity makeup artist Mai Quynh, who created the look for Chloe for last night’s Teen Choice Awards using Votre Vu cosmetics. Eyes “After prepping her face with La Mer Moisturizing Cream, I started with her eyes.  I first smudged Votre Vu’s Le Joli Crayon in Charbon into her lash line. Then I rubbed a bunch of the pencil on the back of my hand, took a stiff, synthetic eye shadow brush and applied it like a cream eye shadow all over her lower lid fading up to the...

Steal the Look: Selena Gomez at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards

Steal the Look: Selena Gomez at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards

For this weekend’s Teen Choice Awards, Selena Gomez’s look was created by John Frieda Hair Care celebrity stylist Lona Vigi. Always adorable on the teen scene, this was a pretty grownup look for Selelan, one that, according to Vigi “weaves confident, youthful, sexy, a hint of bold, but still very sweet. To start, Vigi misted Selena’s hair with an Evian atomizer in order to prep her hair and keep it in the cleanest condition. Next, she applied a dime sized amount of the John Frieda Frizz Ease Original Six Effects Serum into her hands, and rubbed them together before going into Selena’s hair, starting at the roots and pulling all the way to the ends. “This serum is like a BB Cream for the hair,” said Vigi. “It covers...
