Can we take a second to chat about Nicki Minaj’s new Pepsi commercial?

You may have already heard that Nicki Minaj will star in a new Pepsi campaign, “Live for Now.”

The commercial, “Now in the Moment,” features a cameo appearance by global music artist Nicki Minaj and features an all-new remix of Minaj’s hit single “Moment 4 Life.” Pepsi says the spot, directed by Fredrik Bond, is designed to capture “all of the excitement in a single moment frozen in time which is brought to life by the simultaneous crack of two Pepsi cans.”

Now, my question to you: Do the  frozen frames in the ad remind you of something? Perhaps the  USA Network’s The Dead Zone series???

Perhaps the MOST interesting part of this campaign is not Nicki – Pepsi has made a deal with Michael Jackson’s estate to use him in the campaign as well!  Everyone knows that Jackson had a storied history with Pepsi – in fact, in 1984, his hair caught fire while filming a Pepsi commercial, and some say his life-long painkiller addiction began with that moment…pretty scary stuff to be nostalgic back upon!

Anyway, the whole point of the commercial is that a young couple learn BECAUSE OF DRINKING A CAN OF PEPSI that each moment should be lived to its fullest, all against a remix of Nicki’s 2011 hit“Moment 4 Life” . Manipulative much? Anyway, Pepsi is delicious and I love Nicki’s whole pink situation…but there’s no way either of them are going to change your life. Sorry, guys.
