The Face of Bangz
Normally, I consider the celebration of hair to be at the top of my priority list, but this week I found myself hanging out with the Microsoft crew in Seattle.
Of course — as is always true in my world — as soon as I leave town, tons of fun happens without me.
Bangz Salon & Wellness Spa kicked off their second annual The Face of Bangz event earlier this week, on Monday April 22in Montclair, New Jersey. Since I couldn’t make it, I sent my NJ-based intern, Gabrielle Bernardini. She had a blast! Check out her full report below.
Bangz is an award-winning salon that prides itself on community and finding someone who values not only outer beauty, but inner beauty as well. The event featured five finalists competing for a chance to be named the “face of Bangz” for a whole year. Not only will the winner appear in promotional ads for the salon, but they will receive $1,500 dollars in salon services, and all the proceeds will be awarded to the charity of their choice.
Raffle baskets, cocktails, and food! Oh-my! This event sizzled as the five finalists walked the runway and told the esteemed panel of judges why they should be the new face of Bangz. A miniature beauty pageant was put on as questions were answered and a winner was crowned.
The event reminded me of something out of America’s Next Top Model, it was nail-biter. Though there could only be one winner, Carrie Lane Pearlman (Montclair, NJ), who expressed her bravery and lifelong dream of finding a cure for diabetes became the new face of Bangz.
Her honesty and heartfelt answers, along with her beautiful appearance, wowed the judges and spectators.
“Beauty is something that emulates from someone’s heart,” said Pearlman.
This chic fundraising event was one of true beauty as it reminded us that beauty is not only skin deep, but in helping out our community and being a “beautiful” person in life.
As one finalist, Angelica Stiskin (New York, NY) said, “Beauty is inside the imperfections and not being perfect.”
