Video: Learn How To Make Crock Pot Baked Potatoes! (And a giveaway!)

You know that saying about if you can, do, and if you can’t, teach?

The following video is something of an illustration of such.

I’m at my parents for Rosh Hashonah, and as my mother has something like 8 burners going, cooking — I was assigned BAKED POTATOES.

In a desperate attempt to make it seem a lot more epic than it actually is, I have illustrated my cooking process in the below video. Believe it or not, you don’t have to use the oven to make baked potatoes – you can make rather fabulous ones IN A CROCK POT.

Truth is, I’m a Crock Pot junkie (I also can make a mean Crock Pot fried chicken if you want that to be my next video demo!), and Crock-Pot  is getting ready to launch its annual consumer contest — the Ultimate Crock-Pot Crock-Star Contest — and it goes LIVE on 10/1. If you have a personal Crock Pot creation of your very own, enter the Ultimate Crock-Pot Crock-Star Contest anytime between October 1-31.

crockpotAnd want a Crock Pot of your own?   I have a Crock-Pot Hook Up Connectable Entertaining System to give away.

The Crock Pot I used in the above video is the hook up connectable entertaining system. This system allows  you to connect, customize and entertain as extensively as you need, plugging up to six individual Crock-Pot Hook Up units into each other to create the perfect slow-cooked spread for any size soiree, from large to intimate. Connectable units are sold individually and can be used together or apart. I used one for my own project above, but if you are having a dinner part where you want to spread out some queso and dip, the possibilities are endless.  Two new items for Holiday 2014 are a large capacity 5-Quart slow cooker for even grander parties and a stainless steel warming tray for keeping pre-cooked foods warm. Each unit has individual settings for added convenience and all removable stoneware and lids are dishwasher safe. Units are also stackable for easy storage. MSRP: $39.99-$49.99 (available on crockpot.com)

To win your own Crock-Pot Hook Up Connectable Entertaining System, make sure you are following me at @AlyWalansky on twitter, and tweet me (or comment below) telling me about your own favorite crock pot creations. Please also RT this giveaway. Make sure to include tag #crockstars. Deadline is October 10.  Good luck!

We do pot roast quite often but my favorite creation is buffalo shredded chicken. 2 cups of chicken broth, 1 tbsp of butter, 1lb of chicken breast in the crockpot on low for 7 hours. Remove lid, shred the chicken with two forks, and mix in an entire jar of buffalo sauce (more or less to taste). Replace lid, leave on low for another hour, then serve on buns or in tortillas with your choice of toppings.

    Hi Aly,
I love making stews in a crackpot. My favevorite is a kale and tomato stew with cilantro.

    Thanks for the chance!

Curry! It’s so easy to dump everything in and let it cook for hours. I haven’t tried this yet but I want to make pho in a crock pot. It’s supposed to be easy and delicious.

I make jackfruit tacos/taquitos and pulled “pork” sliders. Just cover young green jackfruit in brine (after rinsing) in crockpot. Pour over fave bbq sauce, low for 7-10hrs. So good and vegan… until i add cheese!

Our favorite is chicken pieces, ranch dip mix and pesto. It makes a delicious, tangy chicken dish!

I just started making my homemade spicy Cajun Jambalaya in my crock pot. Using the crock pot completely changes the whole dish as with it my herbs and spices get a lot of time to simmer together and the spicy aroma fills the kitchen all day.

My favorite crock pot recipe is to put mild Italian sausage in a crockpot with a high quality spicy spaghetti sauce on low. It makes the sausage very tender and flavorful. I then serve it on fresh French bread.

I make a great buffalo dip in the crockpot. It seems to blend it better by cooking in the crockpot and then keeps it warm for all day dipping!

This looks great! All I know to make in a crock pot is stew and chili, video’s or recipes are always a great help, so love that you are having them! My crock pot is real old so I hate it!
