I’ve been traveling for just about all of this month — and will be for much of the remainder, and sad to say, eating healthy not going very well.
The thing about travel journalism is that we get to experience the best of the places we visit — and that includes the food. You can’t help but indulge, because you are somewhere for a few days, and may not be in that place again for a very long time. But if you are in that sort of situation in different regions back to back? It’s a war of wills, and even the best of intentions can go out the window.

That’s why I was so grateful that just before I left the States last week, I was asked to participate in FiberChoice‘s month long “Get Picky” challenge.
When you are eating on the road, fiber is one of those elements (so to speak) that often goes out the window. And that’s super dangerous – fiber is incredibly important. It helps to slow your body’s breakdown of carbohydrates and the absorption of sugar, which helps with controlling blood sugar. Fiber also helps to control weight, because it increases feelings of fullness and slows carbohydrate metabolism. Obviously, this is all elements I need! FiberChoice contains a prebiotic fiber called inulin, which is a 100% natural fiber, and helps with digestion – i.e., keeping you regular (TMI, I know, but that too goes out the window when you travel. You know it’s true!)
So, I’ve accepted the challenge. I’m going to take FiberChoice daily every morning with all my other vitamins and supplements and see how I do. Maybe I’ll end up surviving t his month of crazy after all?
