Dear Tony Bennett: My Love For You Is True

Trivia question: What two completely unrelated mega icons share a birthday week?

Well, yesterday, I mentioned I was at an event celebrating the birthday of the one and only Betsey Johnson. What I didn’t mention is that there was another big birthday this week.

Tony Bennett just turned 85, and he’s showing NO signs of slowing down. (Also, much like Betsey, who is a rip-roaring 69.)

In fact, Tony Bennett – a legend no matter what sort of music is in your iPod – just paired with another icon,  Tiffany & Co., to create a playlist of his top ten favorite love songs.

I’ve written before about What Makes Love True — it’s a website and iPhone app that is perfect for the romantic in us all, no matter how deeply we have them buried. Part of the site includes an “Art of Romance” section, which has some of Tony’s romantic faves. Check it out now at www.whatmakeslovetrue.com.

That’s not the end of their journey together — Tiffany & Co. is also auctioning a “Breakfast At Tiffany” with Tony Bennett in-store event that also includes tickets to Tony’s Metropolitan Opera concert and birthday gala, a personalized Tony Bennett art print, as well as a $10,000 Tiffany private shopping experience and tour of the famed store. (Check it out at www.charitybuzz.com/tonybennett.)

All proceeds from the auction will be donated to Exploring the Arts and Tiffany will also be a table sponsor at the September 18 birthday gala.

Tony includes Doris Day’s “It’s Magic” among his faves — what are some of YOUR favorite romantic love songs?

don’t you just love the duets Tony has been doing recently ! Lady GAGA and Amy Winehouse!! He had nothing but great things to say about Amy ~ poor love ~ untreated bi0-polar is always so tragic.
