Giveaway: HERE’S LUCY Complete Box Set

A top 10 hit throughout its 1968-1974 run, HERE’S LUCY was the I Love Lucy star’s fourth sitcom for CBS, and her first to air in color for its entire duration. The legendary queen of television comedy is joined by her real-life children, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr., as well as Gale Gordon, her co-star from the earlier Lucy Show. Ball plays Lucille Carter, widowed mother of teenagers Kim and Craig. Lucy works for her brother-in-law Harry (Gordon), who owns Carter’s Unique Employment Agency, leading Lucy into endless predicaments and hilarious hijinks. Were you a fan? Did you see every episode? Do you want to? I’m giving away a Here’s Lucy complete box set DVD collection. The massive box set contains every episode of the...

Want to check out my Valentines?

Want to check out my Valentines?

You may know them as Kings of Leon. I met them backstage at their show at Madison Square Garden the other night. (Ain’t nothing like that to beat the Valentine’s blues!) How was your Valentine’s weekend? Disclaimer: I attended the concert (and got the meet and greet) as a guest of Nivea — the best Valentines of all!

Get the look: Katy Perry at the AMAs

Get the look: Katy Perry at the AMAs

What’s not to love about Katy Perry? Both her looks last night were among the highlights of the evening for me. Her makeup was done by celebrity makeup artist  Jake Bailey, who says the moment he saw Katy’s beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown he knew last night was going to be a classic Katy look — red lip, black liner and lots of lashes. I’m all about that! Jake started with a sheer application of COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in Buff Beige #825. “This foundation is perfect for the red carpet because it provides full coverage but can be blended sheerly for light yet durable coverage. It lasts forever and the 20 SPF is great for a daytime red carpet event because they have to stand in the sun for so long!”...

My interview with Julie Benz!

My interview with Julie Benz!

I was super excited to get the opportunity to interview Julie Benz earlier this week. I’ve been a massive fan since her days on Buffy and Angel, and I love that she took some time to talk to me about ANOTHER of my favorite topics — food! I’m OBSESSED with your butternut sage mashed potatoes recipe — will def be including them in my own Thanksgiving.  What are some of your own favorite Thanksgiving staples? It’s not Thanksgiving to me without mashed potatoes, corn soufflé, apple walnut cranberry stuffing and creamed spinach gratin. I’ve developed recipes for each of these that you can find on Boston Market’s Holiday Hub… they’re some of my favorite dishes to serve, and a big hit with my family.  I have to confess –...

What would you do with your last 24 hours of freedom?

What would you do with your last 24 hours of freedom?

What would you do with your last 24 hours of freedom? Heavy question, I know, but it’s one that can’t help but come to mind after watching the Netflix-produced, 13-episode adaptation Piper Kerman‘s Orange Is the New Black. Jenji Kohan is the creator of Showtime’s Weeds, one of my favorite shows ever, and the series is based on her best-selling  prison memoir, and this show, like Weeds, is a fun mix of comedy and drama in which the prison feels like a real place and the women are actual people. It’s funny about being a woman — our life circumstances change, we get older, wiser, wider, more wrinkly, but a lot of our vulnerabilities aren’t all that different. Facing trauma and drama as you adjust to a new living situation —...

Holy cuteness: Casio Unveils Limited Edition XW-G1 Synthesizer

Holy cuteness: Casio Unveils Limited Edition XW-G1 Synthesizer

I’m not really musically inclined (more, musician inclined perhaps?) – but holy adorable that Casio has introduced their new limited edition XW-G1 synthesizer created by design duo, Dee & Ricky Jackson. The designers have also created Casio G-Shock collections. The XW-G1 designs features a Lego block design and neon leopard print patterns. I LOVE ALL THINGS THAT COME IN LEOPARD PRINTS. Seriously, if Betsey Johnson ever had a keyboard, it’d look something like that (except the Lego block design would have shocks of pink rather than blue, and that would be awesome.) The synthesizer has 61 keys and Casio’s Hybrid Processing Sound Source, which provides screaming virtual analog monophonic leads and basses, drawbar organs, complex layers,...

Man of Steel countdown…

Man of Steel countdown…

The fantasy love of my life is Jonathan Rhys Meyers. However, should he be busy, I’m all about Henry Cavill. And, I’m totally OK with them sharing me, should that be of interest to them. (Yes, I have a history in Tudors erotica. What about it?) But, semi-related — I can’t wait for Man of Steel to come out next week. And I’m hip to all the news even MODERATELY related. Like, for instance, that the Man of Steel Mega Punch Superman figure is one of many toys launching to tie-in with the upcoming Man of Steel movie starring Henry Cavill as Superman. And, you may ask, what does this matter to us — adults, if only by technical definition? NOTE HIS BIG HANDS.  The 10-inch action figure features over-sized hands. Which, of course,...

Giveaway: True Love DVD Prize Pack (featuring Liz & Dick DVD!)

I’m not going to pretend I didn’t watch Liz & Dick when it originally aired on Lifetime. (In fact, I may have tweeted so much during the airing that I was temporarily put in Twitter jail.) There’s just so much to love — and loathe — and that makes it a must-enjoy DVD. Especially if drinking games are involved. (Irony not lost. I know.) In honor of the Entertainment One DVD release of the Lifetime TV Movie L i z & D i c k this week, I’m giving away a True Love DVD Prize Pack worth $50. As seen on Lifetime, the most anticipated and highly publicized role of Lindsay Lohan’s career and one of the most-watched cable original movie premieres of 2012 – Based on the true love story of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard...
