Steal the Look: Kate Upton at the MTV Movie Awards

Steal the Look: Kate Upton at the MTV Movie Awards

Always a bombshell (couldn’t resist!), Kate Upton looked hot last night at the MTV Movie Awards, in a style created by Peter Butler for Moroccanoil. “When envisioning the hair look that I wanted to create to compliment Kate’s Versace mini-dress, I was inspired by the works of Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin as well as the strong and powerful 80’s woman a la Cindy Crawford and Jerry Hall— I wanted big, polished hair,” Butler says.  ”To create lots of volume, hold and lift, I began by applying Moroccanoil Root Boost to the roots of Kate’s damp hair and then blanketed her locks with Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse. Using the Moroccanoil Paddle Brush, I blow dried the hair in large sections,” says Butler, who then divided the hair...

Get The Look: Jessica Alba at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards

Always gorgeous, Jessica Alba did not disappoint with her look created by celebrity hairstylist Davy Newkirk for tonight’s 2014 MTV Movie Awards. The look was what Newkirk called a playful, modern twist on Hollywood glam — full of glossy, simple loose waves. So perfect for one of her first appearances of spring! In order to recreate this look, follow these steps from Newkirk using products from John Frieda: Newkirk started by applying John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray all over Jessica’s wet hair. Then he blew out her hair using a large round brush to give her tons of volume and a lot of shine. After blow drying, Newkirk parted her hair into 2 inch sections (starting from the nape and working up). Then he curled the hair...

One of the more fun red carpets of the season is the MTV Movie Awards, and tonight, CLEAR Scalp & Hair celebrity stylist Jen Atkin styled Jenna Dewan-Tatum for the red carpet. Love the look? Here’s how to steal it! How-to: 1.       Spray roots with Kevin Murphy Anti-Gravity Volumizing spray and work Leanor Greyl Mousse through from roots to ends. 2.       Rough dry your hair to remove about 80% of the moisture. 3.       Using a medium size round brush, brush your hair and set with large Velcro rollers on top of crown. 4.       Remove the rollers. Create a center part.  Take one inch vertical sections, spray with Oribe Super Fine hairspray and curl with a 1 1/4″ T3 twirl curling iron. Continue to spray each section...

Steal the Look: Mila Kunis’ Hair at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards

If you are keeping up with the MTV Movie Awards, you know Mila Kunis won the award for Best Villain! But she also had pretty “best” hair, celebrity stylist Renato Campora got Mila ready for her moment in the spotlight and shared how to steal the look on your own. Renato was inspired by Mila’s past “That 70’s Show”  days and opted for a dramatic look that framed her face while still feeling soft and effortless. Here’s how to steal the look: ·         Apply a bit of Herbal Essences Moroccan Me a Miracle 7-in-1 Serum on damp hair to protect from heat styling while also helping to smooth frizz and add moisture and shine ·         Then, create a boost of volume by working about an egg-size amount of Herbal Essences...

Steal the Look: Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s gorgeous Oscars red carpet hair!

Steal the Look: Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s gorgeous Oscars red carpet hair!

Tonight, at the Academy Awards,  CLEAR Scalp & Hair celebrity stylist Jen Atkin (one of my major hair crushes, I won’t lie!), styled the gorgeous Jenna Dewan-Tatum for the red carpet. Want to steal the look? Here’s a step-by-step breakdown! “The Oscars are a great time for my clients to get glammed.  Jenna’s dress had so much detail and texture that I wanted to make sure to show off the collar and neckline.  With the dress being so pretty, I wanted the hair to stay off her face, but to still have soft movement.  I wanted her hair to look breeze blown, but still keep it up and off the dress,” Atkins says. 1. “To get this look at home, I love starting this style by washing hair with Clear Scalp & Hair’s Strong Lengths...

Steal the Look: Cate Blanchett at Independent Spirit Awards

Steal the Look: Cate Blanchett at Independent Spirit Awards

Celebrity hairstylist Robert Vetica  gave Cate Blanchett a relaxed look to reflect the chill vibe of the Independent Spirit Awards. The decision to put her hair up was made based on the weather, Vetica says. We’ve so been there!  “It was also important to use the right products to help keep the moisture out on a day like today.” As I’m a victim of constant days “like today” — his step by step breakdown is especially useful! Vetica explains how to steal the look: · Starting out with clean, wet hair, apply John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray all over with a focus on the roots for fullness and to ensure the style holds. · Create a side part and blow the hair up and out using a boar bristle brush to help...

New York Fashion Week: Matt Fugate for CHI Creates Milkmaid Braids at Whit by Whitney Pozgay

New York Fashion Week: Matt Fugate for CHI Creates Milkmaid Braids at Whit by Whitney Pozgay

One of my favorite humans on the planet, Matt Fugate for CHI,  created this romantic braided crown for the Whit by Whitney Pozgay presentation held this morning at Inglot Studios. Matt pulled pieces out in the front to loosen up the strands framing the face resulting in a wispy halo with feminine flyways.  It’s part milk maid, part romantic princess. “We wanted an up-style that was very etherial and Grecian without letting it be too cutesy or polished.  To make sure the braid doesn’t get too bulky we kept it as flat to head as possible coming up from the back then pulled random pieces out from the front to get the wispy, free-spirited look,” Matt says. “The braided crowns are really that much cooler than a couple seasons ago with...

Steal the look: Katy Perry at the Grammy Awards

Steal the look: Katy Perry at the Grammy Awards

As I share endlessly, Katy Perry is one of my very favorite humans. She was fabulous as always tonight at the Grammy Awards, where her hair for the evening was styled by celebrity stylist Renato Campora. “Katy wanted to wear her hair up and I was inspired by the soft, romantic look of her dress,” says Campora. “First I sprayed her hair with the Herbal Essences Naked Sheer Shine Mist and then blew it out to a sleek, polished finish.  Once her hair was dry, I pulled it into a tight, high ponytail.  To add more volume and texture to the ponytail, I sprayed the Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo throughout the length of her hair.  Then I twisted the ponytail and wrapped it around the base of her hair to create the crown.  I secured the crown...

Get the look: Colbie Caillat’s top knot at the Grammy Awards

Get the look: Colbie Caillat’s top knot at the Grammy Awards

The Grammy Awards have always been one of my favorite nights of awards season! One fun look that stood out on the red carpet this evening was Colbie Caillat’s messy, reverse-braided topknot by : Torsten Witte for T3 Hair. “The topknot is one of my all-time favorites, so flattering to the face,” says Witte, who began with damp hair, then blow drying the hair with the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i Dryer then straightened it with the SinglePass Flat Iron. Next, he created a diagonal reverse-braid beginning at the nape of the neck, under the right ear, and continued to the top of the head where he then tied it off with a CyndiBands elastic hair tie. Once the reverse-braid is tied, Torsten then gathered the remaining loose hair and the braid together at the...

Steal the look: SAG Awards hair — a roundup!

Steal the look: SAG Awards hair — a roundup!

I spent the SAG Awards in Sundance this year — only catching a portion of the show before heading out to a few movie screenings. Doesn’t exactly qualify as a problem, of course, but sad to miss a lot of the excitement. I did catch the red carpet though and there were a few styles I bet some of you are coveting right now! Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend styled Lena Headey from HBO’s ‘Games of Thrones’ for the 20th annual SAG Awards.  “I fell in love with Lena Headey’s Jenny Packham dress. I felt it had a 70’s vibe to it, so I wanted her hair to be a modern take on a 70’s style, and the high bun was perfect. Mark prepped her hair by adding a few drops of Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Nourishing Treatment and then blow dried with a round...
