New articles this week

Hello, friends! Happy spring! It’s been a whirlwind (with its fair share of wind and snow!) winter, and as April flowers are finally here, I’m hoping for a way more beautiful and serene spring. This last month or so has been pretty amazing in some other ways — I got to spend St. Patrick’s Day in DUBLIN! In fact, check out the photo attached to this post. I was IN the parade this year. Once in a lifetime moment, for sure! The trip to Ireland was as a guest of Jameson Whiskey, and it was an amazing experience I’ll be sharing in further detail very soon. While my blog has been the forgotten stepchild for way too long, I’ve been doing a ton of writing in other areas. Here’s some stories that went live in the last week or so....

This week in my world (and some new articles!)

This week in my world (and some new articles!)

A Little Alytude was my first baby — eight years ago! — and sometimes I worry I have been giving it decreased attention as I get busier and busier with new projects! As we’re counting down to (yet another!) birthday, I’m having a lot of my seasonal existentialism. It’s hard to see yourself getting older and so many areas of your life are not where you want them to be. But it has been a pretty exciting few months, both travel- and work- wise, and this week alone has seen some fun developments. This crazy thing happened, where I was featured on the Reuters billboard in Times Square: A few days ago, one of my favorite brands, Physicians Formula featured a glamour go-to tip that I think all of my fair-skinned buddies can appreciate as...

Attention NYC Area: I’m Speaking at NYU This Saturday!

For anyone in the New York area (or those who feel like a fun winter weekend road trip!), take note: I’ll be speaking at NYU this weekend, and I’d love if you’d stop by. New York Women in Communications Foundation will host the 2014 Student Career Conference this Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the NYU’s Kimmel Center in New York City. The conference is for students and young professionals seeking advice and tips about pursuing a career in the rapidly evolving communications industry. The full day event will include networking opportunities, informative panel discussions, essential career advice, and incomparable access to the industry’s leading experts.  Apparently they think that includes ME (I’m faklempt!) – because...

Who Needs a Ride? Anywhere, Everywhere, I’m Here For You!

Who Needs a Ride? Anywhere, Everywhere, I’m Here For You!

I’m so excited. As the girl who doesn’t drive (it’s sad but true), and lives in the outer boroughs, I have always been grateful for the lift a kind friend can give me, especially on late tipsy nights that the subway doesn’t feel like the best idea ever. This week, with New York Fashion Week on the horizon and increased potential for said late nights, I have exciting news: I’ve partnered with Hailo, and I’m paying forward the favor to the masses! Starting right now, if you are a new user to Hailo and use my promo code — ALYFW20 — you will get $20 off any ride! If that ride is $20 or less, that means it’s free! Hailo is the world’s highest-rated taxi app, and available on ios and Android, and offer offer three...

I’m back (and new articles!)

Hi friends! I’ve been everywhere but here the last few weeks — Nashville with Lexus, The Bahamas for Miss Teen USA, and then Australia and New Zealand for one of the most whirlwind trips I’ve been on in years. In the coming days, I’ll share stories of my lady love Bryce and myself, frolicking in middle earth, touring wineries for breakfast and chasing kangaroos by afternoon — there’s much more to come on that! — but for now, I just wanted to share some of my new articles that went live during my travels. I didn’t disappear, really! The freelance lifestyle isn’t without its pitfalls — chasing down invoices, the hustle of pitching and deadlines, but the freedom to be your own boss and decide your own destiny is worth everything. If you are spending your Sunday recouping, here’s some of my recent articles that I’d love if you took some time to check out! Think bigger picture (Hope Love Win) This Mother’s Day

Think bigger picture (Hope Love Win) This Mother’s Day

Even though I’d just gotten back from Hawaii hours before, I jumped at the chance to attend the WIN (Women in Need) benefit gala last night at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. It’s not the first time I’ve attended the gala, and I’ll continue to — and support WIN – because it’s such an amazing cause. New York City has 52,585 homeless people, and 80% of NYC homeless are women and children. In the past year, the number of homeless children increased by 8%, reaching an all-time high in January 2014 of 22,712. WIN is among the largest non-profits serving homeless families, Win houses almost 10% of the homeless families in NYC and every night, WIN provides shelter and services for a combined total of 3,400 women and...
