Independence Day weekend rings uniquely significant for those of us free of the chains of working for anyone other ourselves. The freelance lifestyle isn’t without its pitfalls — chasing down invoices, the hustle of pitching and deadlines, but the freedom to be your own boss and decide your own destiny is worth everything. I hope whatever your weekend plans, you are rocking them this weekend — and enjoying some fabulous beach time and grilling in the meantime! If you are spending your Sunday recouping, here’s some of my recent articles that I’d love if you took some time to check out! Think bigger picture (Hope Love Win) This Mother’s Day

Think bigger picture (Hope Love Win) This Mother’s Day

Even though I’d just gotten back from Hawaii hours before, I jumped at the chance to attend the WIN (Women in Need) benefit gala last night at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. It’s not the first time I’ve attended the gala, and I’ll continue to — and support WIN – because it’s such an amazing cause. New York City has 52,585 homeless people, and 80% of NYC homeless are women and children. In the past year, the number of homeless children increased by 8%, reaching an all-time high in January 2014 of 22,712. WIN is among the largest non-profits serving homeless families, Win houses almost 10% of the homeless families in NYC and every night, WIN provides shelter and services for a combined total of 3,400 women and...

Oscars Recap: Saw, Gushed, Tweeted

Oscars Recap: Saw, Gushed, Tweeted

If you follow me on Twitter, you  may have come across a pretty exciting moment Sunday night. Yes, Perez Hilton, tweeting me — about my thoughts on something Oscars-related. The Oscars being the Super Bowl of my industry, it’s kind of a big deal. This was all part of a red carpet Twitter event on Sunday night where some of my favorite people on (and off) the Internet, including Bryce Gruber and Vera Sweeney, but also PEREZ HILTON partnered with Chobani to give out awards of our own. Seriously. So, I was beside myself just based on the company, but the night ended up being so much  more than that. Joining with my friends, we snarked and applauded our way through the red carpet, sharing insights about the hair, beauty, and entertainment value of...

My latest articles! (Beware, there’s a lot!)

I can’t begin to say how much I appreciate your support — especially when I have so much going on in so many places! This past month has taken me to Vegas for CES, Utah for Sundance, and in just a few days, Miami for South Beach Food and Wine. (I’m beyond excited — I’m going to possibly achieve my goal of meeting Michael Symon, I’m a huge fan!). And in early March, I’m headed back to Austin for SXSW! I’ll be sharing all the experiences (gluttony and otherwise!) on Twitter and Instagram. Obviously. While I spend this gloomy Wednesday morning unpacking (a decidedly unglam part of my travel) — here’s some of my latest articles that went live in the last few weeks! Would love if you could take the time to...

My latest articles (this week has been a flurry!)

My latest articles (this week has been a flurry!)

So far, 2014 has been quite the experience. I made two cross-country trips in the past week — one to Vegas for CES, and then a few days later to Utah for Sundance. Both were incredible, I learned a ton at CES and had tons of fun with some dear friends at Sundance. Being that I spent the bulk of time since New Years with the cold-from-hell, this January has gone by in quite the flurry! I have bunches of new articles that have gone live during my travels and I’d love to share them with you! Free Shipping Day: Shopping For People Who Actually Know What They are Doing

Free Shipping Day: Shopping For People Who Actually Know What They are Doing

I’m not a fan of Black Friday. In theory, it’s awesome — who doesn’t like a day of sales? But I loathe the symbolism behind it — following a day of being grateful for what you have by stampeding strangers to get a bunch of stuff you don’t actually need. I’m more into Cyber Monday, as a rule. But I believe that your best deals can be found by being vigilant. By calmly waiting — much like a police stake out — and making your capture at the right time. Sales come and go, and some happen when least expected. But many are happening right now. Free Shipping Day, which is tomorrow, is largely for the so-called procrastinators. But it’s also for those of us to like to shop a little along the way and pounce when...
