Learn to Shop Smarter: CVS ExtraCare Program
I’ve been doing a whole lot of travel lately, and some of it is to unexpected places.
For instance, earlier this week I visited the CVS Headquarters in Providence, Rhode Island to learn more about the CVS/pharmacy ExtraCare Rewards program and Beauty Club.
These programs were created to reward loyal CVS customers with discounts: Every time ExtraCare members make a purchase, either online or in-store, they earn ExtraCare customer rewards, or Extra Bucks. In addition, members also receive special offers printed on their in store receipts throughout the year. Members can spend their Extra Bucks at any CVS/pharmacy location, or online.
CVS’ rewards program, Extra Bucks, is pretty amazing. The program is instant savings, but every quarter customers can earn additional Bucks for every two prescriptions, and shoppers can earn Bucks equal to 2% of their purchases. But shoppers will not receive change if the item purchased costs less than the value of his or her Extra Bucks.
One of my favorite aspects, though, was learning about the Beauty Club.
I’ve long known about the ExtraCare card – every time I go to my local one to buy a shower cap and various other randomness, I get the same question: “Do you have an ExtraCare card?” It’s basically free money, and I have no problem with machines spitting out money at me! — it’s really a brilliant concept. Times are tough, and the best way to get people to spend money at your store is to GIVE THEM MONEY TO SPEND.
However, (and this is a shocker), I was unaware at the full extent of awesomeness that is the Beauty Club. There’s coupons on your birthday, when you register, and just because they like your smile — but in addition, you’ll get beauty tips, discounts on online shipping, VIP invitations to private events, sneak peeks at new product, and personalized beauty offers!
CVS Beauty Club membership includes:
- 10% off beauty shopping pass upon enrollment
- $5 in ExtraBucks® rewards with every $50 beauty purchase
- $3 in ExtraBucks® rewards on the member’s birthday as well as special beauty offers throughout the year
