Lancome Génifique Day: Feel Your Best and Make a Difference this October 19!

We all know Lancôme.

It’s the world’s largest luxury beauty brand and has been around forever.

But there was some amazing things I didn’t know, and I learned more a few weeks ago when the brand invited me along with some of my beauty editor besties to join them in Memphis at  St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to learn about Genifique Day.

For those not familiar with the initiative, it’s pretty amazing: On October 19, 2012 (and at select Lancôme counters during the month of October)  Lancôme will donate $7 from the in-store or online sale of every bottle of select Génifique products to St. Jude.

St. Jude – which I always knew existed, but I wasn’t sure as to the scope of what it does, is absolutely amazing – they research and treat children’s cancers and many other potentially deadly childhood diseases – and they do it at no cost EVER to the patient. It’s all through generous donations.

The Génifique products whose sales will benefit St. Jude include Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate, Génifique Eye Light-Pearl and select gift sets featuring both.

I was really nervous before I visited Memphis (and not just because of the carby biscuits the trip would involve) – would I — especially after the harrowing last six months I’ve had — be able to handle so much sickness and sadness, especially around children?

The energy there was so amazing though — uplifting and positive and the complete opposite of what you’d experience in any hospital you’ve ever been to. Being around so much inspiration makes you want to do something yourself to make the world a better, safer place — for these kids and everyone else — and if we can do our little part by buying a product that will make us look better while we feel better about ourselves?  That’s the ultimate gift with purchase, I’d say.

Disclaimer: Lancome flew me out to Memphis to visit St. Jude and learn all about the program, however all opinions – and awe – expressed are very much my own.
