Avon ClearSkin Black Mineral Mask (and my road to happier skin)
I may have a lot of areas I perpetually feel the need to improve — but, if we are being honest — my skin has never been one of them.
I’m lucky, in that way. Growing up, I’d get one solitary pimple from time to time, but never had an acne issue. I’ve always been sort of at ease it with it staying that way, and of late, that ease has gone away.
(Would that mean I’m in a state of dis-ease? I don’t know.)
Ultimately, I was always aware that that skin performs a super important protective functional layer — beyond that obvious importance of just being pretty to look at — and it’s essential to protect it and nourish it. Just think about all the grossness we encounter EVERY SINGLE DAY. Toxics, pollution, the sun. I can tell you unequivocally my skin is reacting to what goes on in my life, as well.
Beauty isn’t only skin deep, but it IS skin deep, and I know it is reacting to the stresses in my head and environment right now – and probably reflecting a whole bunch of inner turmoil going on. It’s been a really hard stretch for me lately, and somehow, out of nowhere, my skin is having a hard stretch as well. And, suddenly, my skin is breaking out.
Because the only thing we need when we are feeling sad and overwhelmed with everything going on in our world is to…ALSO HAVE BREAKOUTS ON OUR FACE. RIGHT?! Sigh.
So maybe it’s stress, maybe it’s just living in NYC with all its environmental nastiness catching up with me, but I woke up this morning and knew my skin needed a path to righteousness ASAP and grabbed my new AVON ClearSkin Pore Penetrating Black Mineral Mask.
My skin is naturally rather dry, so at first, I was a little concerned that something that promises to be pore-penetrating and oil absorbing may not exactly be the right choice for me — I do want to dry out those blemishes like the evil invaders they are, obviously, but I don’t want to end up with tight, over-dry skin as a result.
(I could make a dried up reference here, but lets not go there until my next birthday of single-hood.)
But I used it — applied the thin dark-gray layer and it didn’t feel overdrying in any way — as you wear it, over 10 minutes or so, you will see the color begin to fade to lighter gray (you may say you, are, in result, becoming various shades of gray) and then you wash it off. My skin now as a result does feel really clean and not too dry (and those pores may indeed be tighter, especially around my nose where they have, sadly, of late become increasingly noticeable) – and I think a bit brighter as well. The instructions read to do this 2-3 times a week, so I’m hopeful if I stick to the road, it shall take me there. (There being the healthy happy skin that I once had, before life ceased to behave in agreement.)
